Tourism Suggestions

Located on the West coast of Canada, Vancouver is Spectacular by Nature! It offers travelers both outstanding opportunities for outdoor adventure and the sophisticated amenities of a world-class city. Vancouver was chosen as the world's "Most Liveable City" in 2011 by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a title it has been awarded eight times since 2002.

The best thing about our conference hotel is location, location, location. It will make a terrific home base to extend your stay and take advantage of the many things Vancouver has to offer.

Here are our personal recommendations for family friendly activities.

Stanley Park

Stanley Park is an enormous urban park that is practically across the street from our hotel. Within minutes you can be hiking the trails through coastal rain forest, digging in the sand at one of the beaches, riding a miniature train or horse-drawn carriage, swimming in the outdoor pool, walking the sea wall, playing at the sprinkler park, enjoying local arts and crafts and so much more.

Vancouver Aquarium

Come see the whales! Vancouver Aquarium is actually located inside Stanley Park but it deserves mention all of its own. We suggest that you plan to spend a full day at the aquarium and top it off with a ride on the miniature train that's right next door. The aquarium is about a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from our hotel.

Granville Island

You can think of Granville Island as Vancouver's town square where you can come to shop or just soak up the atmosphere. It's fun and artsy with a unique public market, a separate kids' market with indoor and outdoor playgrounds and so much more. It's about a 10 minute drive from our hotel but parking can be tricky when you get there. You may want to try walking for about 15 minutes from the hotel and catching one of the water taxis. You pay a fare and hop on and off just like riding a bus. Your kids might think that's the highlight of the trip.

Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain combines amazing outdoor scenery with adventure from gentle to thrilling for all ages. Enjoy the view from the skyride gondola, be amazed by the birds of prey, cheer at the fast-paced lumberjack show, scream down a zipline -- or just enjoy the view on self-guided or guided interpretive walks. A great way to experience that Vancouver really is Spectacular by Nature! Grouse Mountain is about a 20 minute drive from our hotel or there is free shuttle service from downtown with paid admission.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

Capilano Suspension Bridge is an awesome tourist attraction with suspension bridge, tree top adventure, cliff walk and more but don't go if you're afraid of heights! Plan to spend about 4 hours here if you go. Located about 15 minutes drive from out hotel.

Playland

If the thrill of an amusement park is what you're looking for then Playland is the place to be. All the rides and excitement you would expect from a major amusement park. Playland is about a 20 minute drive from our hotel.
